When I first moved to Arizona in 1999, I needed to find a place to water ski.  I had no idea that Arizona had so many options.  After all, it is in the middle of the Sonoran Desert. I had no idea Arizona has the highest boat ownership per capita of any state in the nation.  Arizona has some fabulous public lakes such as Saguaro Lake, Canyon Lake, Lake Pleasant, Apache Lake, Lake Powell and Lake Havasu.  However, with boat ownership so high, the public lakes are very crowded.  After my first adventure on a public lake where I was almost run over by another boat, I began to seek out a better option.

One would think that being in the middle of the desert, finding a private lake would be near impossible.  Fortunately, the Phoenix metro area has several private tournament lakes. Due to my dissatisfaction with public lake skiing,   I have become a property owner at Lakeside Ski Village in Gila Bend, AZ.  There are several other private tournament lakes such as Crystal Point in Gilbert, Buchli Lake in Santan Valley, SanTan Lakeside in Gilbert, Ski Ranch in Arlington and Firebird Lake in Phoenix.  All the private lakes with the exception of Firebird, require property ownership.

My purpose of this blog is help others explore their water ski options in Arizona as well as help them find water ski homes, if that is their goal. An active water skier since 1985, I have participated in ALL facets of water skiing from recreational, to 3-event, to show skiing, to barefooting, and wakeboarding.  Unlike most water skiers that only know their "prefered" discipline, I understand all of them and have connections in all of them.  I have also been a REALTOR® in Arizona since 1999. Not only do I have general real estate experience, I know water ski properties.
